"Assisting Entrepreneurial Schools" portal launched
In response to shortcomings in government schools, more than 1.5 million private schools for the poor are now operating in developing countries, according to estimates from Templeton Foundation and International Finance Corporation-funded studies. Openworld has launched a new portal to provide learning entrepreneurs with practical information on sustainability strategies.
At a leading city in central Kyrgyzstan, private telecenter operators have offered expansion areas as land grants, including this four-hectare site near a national park. The municipality has indicated a willingness to make substantial sites available for private sector development as a means of creating jobs and spreading skills in a workforce now suffering from high levels of unemployment.
