It has been a proving ground for new grassroots learning innovations, including microscholarships, student-created eLessons, Skype English language practice sessions, peer learning, and online work-study and telework projects with global counterparts. -
Microscholarship Initiative and Land Grants (Krygyzstan) (2)
A USAID-backed challenge grant offer of $100,000 in microvouchers for eLearning prompted applications by 50 telecenter operators in August, 2005. Four pilot communities were selected in September, 2005 based on their willingness to give lead roles to the private sector for "eCenter" development, and to offer land grant areas as endowments for continuation of microscholarship initiatives after the startup phase. -

Openworld inputs have helped shape the Bulgarian Information and Communications Technology Cluster strategy for global competitiveness. To create welcoming environments for knowledge industries, a number of communities are proposing greenfield sites for private sector-run "eCenters" and Business/Technology Parks.
